Le Roy is editor of “Eagle Screams”, a newsletter of the Screamin’
Eagles giant scale model airplane club. Because of the many
aviation contributions Steve made to the aviation community,
including an occasional meeting place at the Gallery, the club made
him an honorary member. When the newsletter was about to be
discontinued because it didn’t have an editor, Le Roy and Steve
said it would be a shame not to have a newsletter. Steve and
Le Roy stepped forward and to ensure the newsletter always had
articles, Steve volunteered as Research Editor and wrote articles
each month titled The Unusual of WWII and Wisconsin Aviation History.
Steve was able to contribute these interesting articles for seven
months until he died and we present them here as well as an
October 2000 article Le Roy wrote as his own tribute to
this great man.
